Katrina Kaif

Katrina Kaif was born Katrina Turquotte on 16 July 1983 in Hong Kong to a Kashmiri father, Mohammed Kaif, and an English mother, Suzanne Turquotte. After her parents separated she grew up across several countries with her seven siblings and was educated at home by tutors. She began modelling as a teenager — biographical accounts say she was first approached for a jewellery campaign in Hawaii at 14 — and later worked in London, where filmmaker Kaizad Gustad cast her in Boom (2003), her Hindi-film debut. Early Telugu and Malayalam films followed, along with her first Hindi successes in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya? (2005) and Namastey London (2007). Over the next decade she became one of Hindi cinema's most commercially successful leading ladies through Singh Is Kinng, New York, Raajneeti, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Dhoom 3 and Tiger Zinda Hai. In October 2019 she co-founded the make-up brand Kay Beauty with Nykaa; the brand crossed ₹240 crore in sales (GMV) in FY2024–25 and in September 2025 became the first Indian-founded beauty brand stocked by the UK retailer Space NK. Kaif married actor Vicky Kaushal on 9 December 2021, and the couple welcomed a son, Vihaan, on 7 November 2025. Her most recent release is the thriller Merry Christmas (2024).
